The unusual victory of young yachters from Odessa region in the largest sailing regatta in Italy

The world’s largest regatta in the “Optimist” class, “40th Garda Meeting” has ended in Italy. More than 1,100 young yachtsmen took part in the competitions traditionally held on Lake Riva del Garda.
Yachtsmen from the Odessa region not only took part, but became winners.
In juniors’ competitions, Svyatoslav Madonich from Sergeevka won “gold”, and Alina Shapovalova from Odessa became the first in the women’s standings, finishing in the high seventh position in the general classification.
In the decisive last race, Svyatoslav and Alina came in first and second positions among the whole huge fleet.
