On February 27, a meeting was held at the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development with a delegation from the Kingdom of Denmark Embassy in Ukraine. The main topic of the meeting was cooperation in the field of water supply and wastewater management.

The Ukrainian side was represented by Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development, Kostyantyn Kovalchuk. Also participating were representatives of the Ukrainian Association Ukrvodokanalekologia. The Danish delegation was led by Embassy Counselor Kamilla Christensen, with experts from the Danish Environmental Protection Agency also present. The parties discussed ways to improve drinking water quality, modernize water supply and sewage systems, and measures to reduce environmental pollution. Special attention was given to the implementation of European water treatment standards. Additionally, Kostyantyn Kovalchuk informed the Danish colleagues about ongoing projects in these areas that the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development is implementing.

"Providing people with clean drinking water, proper sanitation, and environmental protection is the primary task of centralized water supply and wastewater systems. In Ukraine, these systems require reconstruction and modernization, as a significant portion of the infrastructure is outdated and worn out. To improve drinking water quality and wastewater treatment, stable funding and the effective implementation of state and regional programs are necessary. We hope for a productive and long-term partnership with Denmark, which will help introduce modern solutions and best European practices," said Kostyantyn Kovalchuk.

Following the meeting, four key areas of cooperation were identified: water supply, drinking water quality, wastewater management, and pollution reduction. A council will be established to include representatives from the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, the Kingdom of Denmark Embassy, and experts from "Ukrvodokanalekologia." Working groups will also be formed to further explore these areas. Additional meetings between the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development and the Kingdom of Denmark Embassy have already been scheduled, with both parties committed to a long-term partnership.
