Ukraine will receive over 5,000 LMM (Lightweight Multirole Missile) interceptor missiles and RapidRanger launchers as part of the large-scale LMM-RapidRanger project.
The supply will be funded through a loan guaranteed by the UK government’s UK Export Finance (UKEF) agency.
This initiative aims to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense by 2030 and will be implemented in cooperation with the British company Thales, Ukrainian subcontractors, and the UK government.
In addition to supplying the latest systems, the project involves localizing production, transferring technologies, and supporting Ukraine's defense industry.
The LMM is a modern British interceptor missile specifically adapted for destroying Shahed-type drones, which has already proven its effectiveness in combat during 2022–2024.
Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, Rustem Umerov, emphasized the importance of this agreement:
"This project is another step in strengthening our air defense. The LMM missiles and RapidRanger systems will allow Ukraine to defend its skies even more effectively. Moreover, involving Ukrainian enterprises in this project will enhance our strategic independence. I thank the UK government, Thales, and everyone who helps us fight for the freedom of Ukraine and all of Europe."
At the same time, John Healy noted that supporting Ukraine remains a strategic priority for London:
"Three years have passed since Putin launched the full-scale invasion, and now is a critical moment for Ukraine’s future and the security of all Europe. We all strive for stable and lasting peace. As today’s meeting showed, the UK will continue to lead international efforts to help Ukraine secure a ceasefire and lasting peace. And we will not jeopardize this peace by forgetting the war. The new aid will help Ukraine protect itself from drone and missile attacks and deter further Russian aggression once the fighting is over," said the UK’s Minister of Defense.
