Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada has approved the resignation of Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko. A total of 259 lawmakers voted in favor of Resolution No. 15407 during Tuesday’s plenary session.
In her address to parliament, Svyrydenko thanked lawmakers and state institutions for their joint work over the past year, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for his trust, the Ukrainian people for their resilience and tireless efforts, and the Armed Forces for defending the country.
"At a time when the enemy is trying so hard to destroy lives everywhere—from small villages to major cities—ensuring a decent life for Ukrainians is no easy task. But I believe that together with you we endured and did everything possible, and often the impossible, for our energy sector, education, transport, healthcare, and housing for internally displaced persons... It has been an honor for our government team to work alongside you for the benefit of Ukraine," she said.
Svyrydenko's resignation also means the departure of the entire Cabinet, including First Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal; Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba; Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka; Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy and Culture Minister Tetiana Berezhna; Youth and Sports Minister Matvii Bidnyi; Veterans Affairs Minister Nataliia Kalmykova; Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko; Education and Science Minister Oksen Lisovyi; Health Minister Viktor Liashko; Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko; Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha; Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov; Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Oleksii Soboliev; Minister of Social Policy, Family and National Unity Denys Uliutin; Acting Justice Minister Liudmyla Suhak; and Acting Minister of Digital Transformation Oleksandr Borniakov.
According to the Law on the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the prime minister is dismissed from office on the day parliament adopts the resignation at a plenary session. The outgoing government continues to perform its duties until a newly formed cabinet begins its work.
