Germany will support agricultural sector of Ukraine by providing 9 million euros by the end of this year for the purchase of generators, as well as to help restore farms affected by war.

This was stated by German Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir during a meeting with Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solsky.

Also, according to Cem Özdemir, Germany is preparing a joint project worth EUR 5 million for the development of Ukrainian horticulture.

Mykola Solsky, in turn, noted that this project is very relevant for Ukraine in the context of a government program providing grants for the development of horticulture, berry growing and viticulture, which is very popular among farmers. Thus, in five months since its launch, grants for more than UAH 240 million have been agreed.

In addition, the Ministers discussed strengthening cooperation in the implementation of the Grain from Ukraine initiative. Mykola Solsky, taking the opportunity, thanked Germany for being one of the first countries to join this humanitarian program and financing the transportation of a ship with grain from Ukraine to Ethiopia.

“Many countries have informed that they are ready to participate in this program. This is important from several aspects. First, it is basically right in terms of humanitarian relations in the world. Secondly, Africa needs to know who really cares about them and whose actions they suffer from. We are working to ensure that the work of the grain corridor is extended as long as possible and we can always deliver our food to where it is needed. And, of course, we will be grateful for further support from our partners,” Mykola Solsky emphasized.
