On January 16, 2025, the NATO-Ukraine Council meeting took place at NATO headquarters at the level of Armed Forces Commanders.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, participated in the meeting online.

The Commander-in-Chief thanked the allies for their support in the fight against Russian aggression, including the establishment of the NSATU mission (NATO Security Assistance and Training Mission for Ukraine), which will play a significant role in coordinating assistance to Ukraine.

Oleksandr Syrskyi briefed partners on the operational-strategic situation on the front line, assessed Russia’s plans for continuing the war, and provided forecasts for its future actions.

The General presented Ukraine’s strategy for 2025 to the allies. He emphasized the importance of strengthening Ukraine's air defense, particularly to protect critical infrastructure, as well as the capability to strike military targets deep within Russian territory.

Oleksandr Syrskyi also called on NATO member states to invest in Ukraine’s defense industry following the “Danish model” and to provide additional support for military training. In addition to training outside Ukraine, he urged allies to support the initiative of conducting training sessions at Ukrainian military ranges with the involvement of instructors from NATO member states.

The allies assured that their support for Ukraine would remain steadfast and confirmed their readiness to provide the necessary assistance.
