A 100-year partnership agreement was signed in Kyiv by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

“Today is truly a historic day. The relations between Ukraine and the United Kingdom are closer than ever. We have reached a new level—this is more than a strategic relationship. We signed a 100-Year Partnership Agreement,” Zelenskyy said.

This document will deepen bilateral relations in the defense sphere and provides for further military assistance to Kyiv.

On January 12, 2024, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of security in Kyiv. This document officially secures the support that Britain will continue to provide to Ukraine, including intelligence sharing, medical and military training, and defense-industrial cooperation.

Details of the 100-year agreement with Ukraine were previously disclosed by the UK government. The historic agreement envisions enhanced military cooperation in maritime security through a new framework to strengthen the security of the Baltic, Black, and Azov Seas and deter Russian aggression. The document brings together experts to develop scientific and technical partnerships in areas such as healthcare, agrotechnology, space, and drones, as well as to foster friendship through educational projects.

This agreement also solidifies the UK’s position as a priority partner for Ukraine in the energy sector, strategies for extracting critical minerals, and the production of “green” steel.

Additionally, at Ukraine’s request, Britain has developed a new system for tracking stolen grain from Ukrainian fields in Russian-occupied territories, which is then rebranded and sold. A special database has been created and will be handed over to Ukraine by the UK’s Minister of Environmental Protection.
