Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and French Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu discussed strengthening defense cooperation during their meeting.

According to Umerov, the Ukrainian delegation at the meeting included Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Volodymyr Horbatyuk, Chief of the Main Logistics Department of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Mykola Shevtsov, and Deputy Minister of Defense for European Integration Oleksandr Balanutsa. They discussed several important issues.
"The main focus of the dialogue was on strengthening defense cooperation and coordinating efforts to counter Russian aggression," Umerov said.
Horbatyuk provided a detailed briefing on the current operational situation on the battlefield, while Shevtsov outlined the critical needs for enhancing Ukrainian troops.
Umerov noted that "air defense systems and missiles remain a priority as Russia continues its missile terror against our cities. We must respond decisively to these terrorist acts, which makes the expansion of Ukraine's long-range capabilities especially important."
"Other critical priorities include combat aircraft, electronic warfare systems, drones, artillery, and ammunition," emphasized the Defense Minister. He added, "We also focused on developing cooperation between the Ukrainian and French defense industries. We discussed the creation of joint ventures and co-financing of production. We have specific projects, an action plan, and deadlines. Our teams are already actively working on this."
Umerov thanked France for its unwavering support of Ukraine and their joint efforts to save lives and bring about a just peace.
