On Wednesday, March 19, in Mumbai, with the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, the business forum “Ukraine-India: Comprehensive Partnership” was held. The event was organized jointly by the World Trade Centre (WTC) Mumbai, the All India Association of Industries, and the Embassy of Ukraine in India.
The event became a significant milestone in strengthening the economic ties between Ukraine and India and the practical development of agreements made between the leaders of both countries, Volodymyr Zelensky and Narendra Modi, during the Indian Prime Minister's visit to Ukraine last year.
"Today, we are talking about opportunities. Our bilateral relations have enormous potential. Throughout history, Ukraine and India have had truly close ties. We are ready to develop our bilateral relations. India’s role is very important, and we invite you to engage in active cooperation with Ukrainian partners," said Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, addressing the forum participants.
The Minister particularly emphasized the importance of opening the General Consulate of Ukraine in Mumbai, which underscores the significance of India for Ukraine and the world.
"From now on, Ukraine will be represented in India’s largest financial center, which will contribute to the development of our trade and economic relations," he emphasized.
The Minister drew attention to the fact that on the eve of the forum, the first batch of Ukrainian apples arrived at the port of Mumbai, symbolizing the new phase of Ukrainian-Indian cooperation.
The Minister also informed forum participants about Ukraine’s commitment to the peace process, its desire to end the war with a just peace, and the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation in the Black Sea.
For his part, Maharashtra State Minister Jaykumar Raval expressed gratitude to the Foreign Minister and deep respect for the Ukrainian people in connection with the opening of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Mumbai. He expressed confidence that this step would help develop cooperation between the two countries.
"I am convinced that with the opening of the General Consulate of Ukraine in Mumbai, trade and bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and India will reach a qualitatively new level," stated the official.
The forum was attended by more than 130 representatives from leading Indian companies in various sectors of the economy, including IT, agribusiness, defense industry, pharmaceuticals, and construction.
Such active participation demonstrates strong interest in Ukraine and the readiness of Indian businesses to expand cooperation, particularly in the context of post-war reconstruction and recovery.
An important aspect of the event was the presentation of opportunities in India in sectors critical for Ukraine. The Horizon Group company showcased advanced solutions in humanitarian demining and is already undergoing certification in Ukraine.
At the same time, the Minister highly appreciated the contribution of Parashar Industries, owned by an Indian citizen living in Ukraine. The company develops and manufactures prosthetics that help our wounded defenders return to full life.
This significant event proved that India sees Ukraine as a reliable partner, and the opening of new channels of interaction creates opportunities for joint projects and investment attraction.
