Eleven people were injured in Kyiv during a Russian overnight attack, including a child, Volodymyr Zelensky said.

According to the president, Russian forces struck civilian infrastructure in the capital even before an air raid alert was officially announced. Emergency services are currently working at the sites of the attacks, where residential buildings, offices, and a theological seminary were damaged.

The consequences of the strike are also being addressed in the Odessa, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions, Zelensky said.

Russia launched more than 120 drones and 12 missiles during the night attack, half of which were ballistic missiles. Ukrainian air defense forces managed to intercept most of the targets, but ballistic threats remain the most difficult challenge.

“Most of the targets were destroyed by our defenders, but not the ballistic missiles,” Zelensky said, stressing the urgent need to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.

The president called on international partners to fulfill commitments on additional defense support packages agreed during the recent NATO meeting. He emphasized that accelerating agreements on licenses for the production of Patriot air defense systems and the development of a joint European anti-ballistic defense project must become a top priority.

“Right now, the number one task for all our institutions is to ensure this,” Zelensky said.
