Despite the difficult situation and overall market pressure, the construction of new grain elevators and the expansion of existing capacities in Ukraine continues, with demand remaining steady, according to the press service of KMZ Industries (Karlivka Machine-Building Plant, Poltava region).
“If we compare early June 2024 with 2025, the volume of orders has grown by about 15–17%. A considerable number of potential clients already have project plans, construction sites, and finalized budgets in place, but are waiting for improved security (especially in the northern and eastern regions) or at least a forecastable stability,” said the company’s commercial director, Oleksandr Nebeskyi.
Currently, KMZ Industries is working on 173 projects for small, medium, and large facilities. The majority of clients are in western Ukraine, with several in the Kyiv, Cherkasy, and Kirovohrad regions as well.
Nebeskyi noted a recent trend: more processors and farmers seeking to enter processing are investing in elevator construction. These grain storage facilities are being built to operate in tandem with processing plants, feed mills, and bioethanol plants.
Farmers are also actively building their own elevator capacities. While large agricultural holdings previously dominated this field, today, medium and small agricultural enterprises are increasingly taking on such projects.
“There is a growing number of farmers building their own grain storage facilities. This allows them to store the harvest until prices are more favorable and reduces dependence on third-party elevators. Some also provide storage services to neighboring farmers,” Nebeskyi summarized.
KMZ Industries is the largest manufacturer of grain elevator equipment in Ukraine, producing a full range—from silos and grain dryers to conveyors and separators—and also offers automation and installation services.
According to the company, it has built over 5,000 facilities, with KMZ silos currently in use totaling over 12.5 million cubic meters in capacity.
