Fire Point: Ukraine’s anti-ballistic shield advances toward full integration

Ukraine’s “anti-ballistic shield” is aerodynamically ready, but actual interception of enemy ballistic missiles requires the integration of multiple systems, according to Denys Shtilerman, chief designer and co-owner of the defence company Fire Point.

“I want to explain the real stage the anti-ballistic shield project has reached, so people do not have to rely on distorted retellings in some media outlets. The missile itself is ready. From an aerodynamic standpoint, it fully executes all control commands, and it does so sharply and aggressively — exactly as required to intercept ballistic targets. We have accomplished that,” he wrote on X.

However, Shtilerman stressed that this is only one element of the overall system. According to him, to actually shoot down ballistic targets, the missile must still be integrated with a seeker head, a command center, and radar systems.

He emphasized that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be able to intercept ballistic missiles only when they have a complete system that includes a seeker developed by a leading European company, integration with C2 (command-and-control) centers, a secure target-designation and correction-command datalink resistant to any electronic warfare jamming, and integrated radar systems.

“We are already working on each of these components together with our European partners. We are doing everything possible to protect the skies over Ukraine and the entire continent as quickly as possible,” the Fire Point co-owner stressed.
