Hungary has banned several Ukrainian media outlets in response to Ukraine blocking a number of pro-Russian Hungarian publications.
Government spokesperson Zoltán Kovács announced the move on X, quoting Hungarian Prime Minister’s Office head Gergely Gulyás.
According to Gulyás, Ukraine had restricted access to foreign — including Hungarian — news websites for allegedly “daring to write critically about sanctions against Russia, military aid to Ukraine, and for portraying the European Union and NATO as fragmented and not particularly effective organizations.”
“Following the principle of reciprocity, Hungary is introducing mirror measures today against Ukrainian news portals, which will no longer be accessible from within Hungary,” the statement said.
The ban covers 12 Ukrainian outlets, including tsn.ua, oboz.ua, anons-zak.com.ua, ungvar.uz.ua, zakarpattya.net.ua, pravda.com.ua, hromadske.ua, nv.ua, lb.ua, insiderinfo.com.ua, uaonline.com.ua and eurointegration.com.ua.
