In the Kherson region, an experiment in growing olives has begun.
This was reported by the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.
It is noted that Canadian organizations MetaCluster TIASI and GREEK CHALLENGE, together with local farms, planted the first olive tree seedlings in a greenhouse.
“Traditional crops that were previously profitable are losing their business appeal due to reduced yields in new climatic conditions, but they are being replaced by plants that thrive in such conditions,” wrote Oleksandr Prokudin.

The seedlings are scheduled to be transplanted into open soil in the spring.
“Olive cultivation requires a specific temperature regime, fertilizers, and irrigation, so we are testing our region’s climate and trying out the technology on a small scale,” added Oleksandr Prokudin.
