Igor Romanenko, the founder of the Charitable Foundation "Let's Close the Sky of Ukraine," former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (2006-2010), Lieutenant General, stated that the occupiers in Avdiivka could occupy the entire front line. He shared this information during an interview on the Espresso TV channel.

"Yes, the situation is threatening. The enemy to the north of Avdiivka, one can say, has entered the industrial zone. There is also advancement to the south, towards Pervomaiske. That is, at a tactical distance, but the occupiers are still advancing. Taking into account several months, this advancement largely threatens the occupation of virtually the entire line," Romanenko reported.

According to him, the defense by the Ukrainian Armed Forces will continue until there is logistic support.

"One needs to consider the possibilities of logistical support. Unfortunately, they are also limited due to the enemy's fire control. The struggle will continue on our part until there is logistical defense and options remain for the possible withdrawal of some of our troops left there at a critical moment, with the aim of carrying out further tasks," noted Lieutenant General Romanenko.

He emphasized that the battles in Avdiivka should be seen in the context of transitioning to strategic active defense along the entire front line.

"It is necessary to intensively build engineering barriers with minefields in more threatening directions. Unfortunately, the enemy is gradually taking offensive actions. These actions must be stopped by a defensive strategic operation. During its implementation, it is necessary to destroy as much of the enemy's weapons, equipment, and manpower as possible. The Armed Forces of Ukraine need to gain time to accumulate new forces for further actions in 2024," concluded Romanenko.
