Russia is deceiving foreigners into joining the war, with reports indicating that eight Indian citizens have died in this conflict. Additionally, 63 others are trying to secure early release from the Russian army, having been recruited under false pretenses.

This information was shared on Telegram by Andriy Yermak, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

"Russia is engaging in the forced recruitment of foreign nationals to participate in an illegal and unprovoked war against Ukraine. It is known that eight Indians have died in this war, and 63 more are seeking early release from the Russian army, into which they were deceived," Yermak said.

He emphasized that Russia is violating international law principles by using deceit and coercion to involve citizens from other countries in its aggression against Ukraine.

Earlier, in April, the UK Ministry of Defence reported that Russia continues to recruit foreign nationals into its army to fight against Ukraine, attempting to avoid unpopular domestic mobilization measures.

Foreigners are being offered entry into a "special" unit of the Russian army with promises of a monthly salary of $2,200, an additional $2,000 upon recruitment, a Russian passport, free medical care, and training.

In mid-2023, job advertisements specifically targeting neighboring countries like Armenia and Kazakhstan were circulated, offering monthly salaries of $1,973 and a recruitment bonus of $5,140. Additionally, Russia sought migrants from Central Asia within Russian.
