In August, there was a noticeable increase in passenger and transport traffic at the border. The number of crossings by Ukrainians returning home exceeded those leaving the country by 100,000 times.

In total, in August, the State Border Guard Service processed nearly 3.9 million crossings of the border with EU countries and Moldova, with 86% of them being Ukrainian citizens, mainly women, children, and the elderly.

It's worth noting that at the beginning of the summer season, in June, the number of Ukrainian citizens leaving the country was higher. However, in August and July, the situation differed from the first month of summer, with more Ukrainians entering the country.

More than half of the passenger traffic occurs at the Ukrainian-Polish border crossing points. The number of people and vehicles tends to increase from Thursday to Monday, leading to potential queues at border crossing points.

To avoid long waits in queues, it is recommended that citizens consider alternative border crossing routes through less crowded border crossing points like "Smilnytsia," "Hrushiv," and "Ugriniv," or plan their trips for days when passenger traffic is lower.

The most up-to-date information regarding the congestion at border crossing points can always be found on the Facebook page of the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service.

Additionally, individuals transiting through Poland are advised to choose border crossing points within the Zakarpattia and Chernivtsi regions.
