A Russian attack on Ukraine's southern Odessa region damaged energy infrastructure and disrupted electricity supplies to more than 1,000 consumers, regional authorities said.

According to Odesa Regional Military Administration head Oleh Kiper, Russian forces struck an energy facility in the southern part of the region, damaging critical equipment and causing localized power outages.

"Enemy forces continue to target the energy infrastructure of Odessa region," Kiper said, adding that utility crews are working to eliminate the consequences of the attack and restore electricity service to affected customers.

Separately, two civilians were injured in an attack on the city of Odessa, according to local authorities.

The victims were reportedly waiting at a public transport stop when Russian forces struck the area. Both sustained shrapnel wounds and were hospitalized.

"People were waiting for transport at a bus stop. They have been hospitalized with shrapnel injuries," city officials said.

Authorities have not yet released further details about the circumstances of the attack, and emergency services continue to assess the scene.
