The company "Epicenter Generation" has been granted licenses for electricity and gas supply, as decided by the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (NKRKU) on August 7.
The ultimate beneficiaries of the company are Oleksandr and Halyna Herh, who are involved in various retail segments. Besides their agro-business, "Epicenter" is now entering the development, logistics, entertainment, and energy markets.
As of June 2024, "Epicenter" operates 72 locations in Ukraine under the "Epicenter" and "Nova Line" brands, with 10 of these in Kyiv. Due to the full-scale Russian invasion, six "Epicenter" shopping centers in Mariupol, Nikopol, Bucha, Chernihiv, and two in Kherson have been destroyed.
"Epicenter" plans to build 100 MW of gas power generation with an investment of UAH 2.2 billion and to invest UAH 3 billion in rooftop solar power stations. This year, "Epicenter" intends to purchase gas-turbine power plants with capacities ranging from 1 to 6 MW to supply electricity to its production facilities and, eventually, to its shopping centers. The company will spend $76.5 million, or over UAH 3 billion, on solar power stations, which will cover up to 30% of its electricity consumption.
