The adoption of the law on "foreign agents" in Georgia will halt the country's progress towards NATO and the European Union.

This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, as reported by Georgia Online.

He considered it his duty to inform the public about the risks posed by the law.

"Allow me to be extremely clear. The adoption of the law on 'foreign agents,' as well as repression against Georgian civil society, will halt Georgia's further progress towards the European Union and NATO," said the Lithuanian diplomat.

He also explained that if this happens, the entire responsibility will lie with the government of Georgia.

"However, it is not too late yet. We have heard from the President that she plans to veto the law, and this is an opportunity for the government to altogether repeal this unsuccessful legislative initiative," Landsbergis said.
