Ukrainian Defense Forces struck one of Russia’s largest chemical plants, “Nevinnomysskiy Azot,” in the Stavropol Krai, during the night leading into Thursday, causing a fire in one of the facility’s workshops, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.
“As part of efforts to reduce the enemy’s offensive potential and capabilities for missile and bomb strikes, on the night of December 4, Ukrainian Defense Forces struck one of the aggressor’s largest chemical plants — ‘Nevinnomysskiy Azot’ in Stavropol Krai, Russia,” the General Staff stated on their Telegram channel Thursday evening.
The plant is a critically important part of Russia’s military-industrial complex, with a production capacity of over 1 million tons of ammonia and up to 1.4 million tons of ammonium nitrate per year, making it one of the key suppliers of basic components for explosives and ammunition manufacturing. The facility regularly supplies several enterprises within the Russian military-industrial sector and functions as a chemical hub in the system supporting combat operations.
According to the General Staff, one of the production workshops was hit, and a fire has been recorded at the facility.
“In addition, the results of a strike on December 4 against a concentration of enemy forces at a training ground near Dokuchaievsk (occupied territory of Donetsk region) have been confirmed. According to verified data, the enemy suffered 60 killed and wounded,” the General Staff added.
