Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air made its first flight on the Rome-Odessa-Rome route.

Airfield services in Odessa quickly served the low-cost airline: the disembarkation/landing of passengers and luggage took about half an hour.

For the first flight to Odessa, the airline sent a brand new Airbus A321 NG registration number HA-LVJ, which has been in operation for only six months.

However, Wizz Air lost the battle for Odessa to its main competitor, the Irish airline Ryanair. Wizz Air and Ryanair left Odessa airport with the start of the pandemic - in March-April 2020, but the Irish returned much earlier, capturing most of the popular routes from Odessa to Poland, Germany, Italy.

Ryanair now operates three to six daily flights from our airport to various European cities - Katowice, Poznan, Krakow, Gdansk, Budapest, Berlin, Barcelona, Corfu, Rome and others. Wizz Air has aimed only at two destinations: Rome and Berlin, but it is still unclear whether they will become regular, or will be canceled for financial reasons, which happened repeatedly during the pandemic.
