The unique artifacts from the collection of the Museum of Books and Printing of Ukraine will be digitized. This will make the exhibits more accessible and preserve data about them in case of damage or loss of the monuments.
Digitized manuscripts and old prints will be presented on the 'Virtual Portal of the Museum of Books and Printing of Ukraine.' This way, researchers will be able to study the artifacts without causing them harm. Plans include examining four digitized manuscripts, 120 old prints, and 1000 graphic works. The most valuable part of the museum's collection consists of 650 artifacts, among which are unique items that are one-of-a-kind in the world. The collection of graphics holds special value, with over 12,000 pieces.
Attention will also be given to ancient musical notation in prints, some of which are planned to be voiced.
The digitized artifacts and their scholarly descriptions will be included in the 'Catalog of Manuscripts and Old Prints of the Museum of Books and Printing of Ukraine.' In addition, the 'Virtual Portal of the Museum of Books and Printing of Ukraine' will present a virtual exhibition titled 'Museum Magic of Numbers,' dedicated to the museum's anniversary. It will showcase 50 exhibits that would highlight the most interesting aspects of the history of book creation and the formation of Ukrainian identity as a distinct identity. Among the exhibits of the virtual exhibition will be sculptures, printing presses, books, and graphics, including extremely rare artifacts of which there are only a few in the world.
