An Odessa resident named Sergiy, who lost his wife and three-month-old son during the Russian attack on March 2, 2024, met with the Speaker of the U.S. Congress, Mike Johnson. Ukrainian Member of Parliament Iryna Gerashchenko shared this information on Facebook.
"This is a very appropriate step. Despite the tragic backstory, a young Odessite who lost his wife and young son in the Russian attacks met with Speaker Johnson. He stands out for his conservatism and religiousness," the post reads.
According to Gerashchenko, Sergiy's wife, who perished along with their little son, was the daughter of a pastor.
"I am confident that the testimonies of the victims of Russian aggression, priests who will talk about destroyed churches, parents who lost children - this is the emotionally challenging truth that we must convey to the world. Congressmen must see and hear the tragedies of specific individuals. Every day of delay with providing weapons against evil is an amplification of evil, resulting in new victims, including Ukrainian women and children," emphasized the MP.
Recall that on the night of March 2, the Russians attacked Odessa with Shahed drones. A drone hit a residential building, resulting in the deaths of twelve people, including five children.
