Next week, the EU mission will head to Kyiv to discuss with the Ukrainian side proposals regarding security commitments to Ukraine, announced Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
"We have made progress on our commitments to ensure Ukraine's security. The Council has approved the structure. Today, we began discussing this. And next week, the Deputy Secretary-General for Security and Defense will head to Kyiv to share this with our Ukrainian colleagues, so that I can present it to the EU Council by the end of the year," said Borrell at a joint briefing with the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, in Brussels.
Earlier, Borrell announced that in early December, the European Union mission would visit Ukraine to discuss proposals for possible guarantees from the Community to Kyiv in the field of security.
"As you know, at the last EU Council, I received a task from European leaders to develop security commitments from the European Union to Ukraine. We are working on this with member countries. At the beginning of the month, I will send a mission to Ukraine to discuss our proposals with Ukrainians. If I can go, I would be very happy, but in any case, the Deputy Secretary-General for Security and Defense will go to Ukraine and present the proposals that member states are still discussing," said Borrell.
