Norway and the United Kingdom will create a joint coalition to support Ukraine, as stated in a Ministry of Defense announcement in Norway.
The ministry issued a statement inviting representatives of the media on December 11 for the launch of the British-Norwegian coalition in support of Ukraine. It is announced that the event will be attended by the Minister of Defense of the United Kingdom, Grant Shapps, and the Minister of Defense of Norway, Bjørn Arild Gram.
Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Britain has been supporting Ukraine by providing military and humanitarian aid, conducting training for Ukrainian military personnel on its own territory, and offering refuge to Ukrainian refugees.
In 2022, Norway provided support to Ukraine and other countries affected by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, amounting to approximately 10.7 billion Norwegian kroner. For the period 2023-2027, Norway has approved a multi-year support program for Ukraine totaling 75 billion Norwegian kroner (7.3 billion dollars), distributed over five years (around 15 billion per year). Part of the funds will also go to other countries in the region affected by the war, such as Moldova.
