The recent strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on airfields in occupied Crimea caused significant damage to military infrastructure. In response, Russia launched a series of missile strikes on Ukrainian territory.

This information was reported by the Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom on Twitter.

According to the summary, the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine stated that on January 4, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked Russian facilities at airfields in the cities of Saky and Sevastopol.

"These attacks likely degraded the intelligence and cover of Russian air defense systems over the Crimean region," the statement says.

In response, on January 8, Russia carried out a series of missile strikes on Ukrainian territory, targeting several cities, including Kryvyi Rih and Zaporizhzhia.

"This once again demonstrates the inefficiency of the Russian air defense system in protecting key objects, despite its heightened readiness. The scenario of the Russian response likely indicates the level of success achieved by the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on January 4, 2024," noted the Ministry of Defence of Britain.
