In Indonesia, the multimedia performance "ERROR" by GOLOLYFEST / DAKH Centre for Contemporary Art and Gema Citra Nusantara took place, marking the first Ukrainian-Indonesian artistic collaboration. The event was supported by the Ukrainian Institute.
The performance was directed by Vladislav Troyitsky, a Ukrainian theater producer, director, and founder of the Dakh theater:
"We are the first to bring Ukrainian theater to Indonesia. War is one of the greatest dangers facing the entire world, as is the concept of freedom itself. Culture is what opens doors, bridges distances, and breaks down walls between nations. And we will not stop here."
The performance was an example of the intersection of traditional culture and technological progress. It used modern methods, combining live filming, animation, computer processing, and artificial intelligence with acting, music, and singing from two countries. By referencing the elements of water, wind, and fire as the eternal rulers of the Earth, the team aimed to re-establish the lost human connection with nature. By merging tradition and technology, the performance was a powerful emotional and physical experience.
Its premiere took place at the Jakarta International Theatre Platform (Djakarta Teater Platform).
Since 2023, the Ukrainian Institute has been establishing collaboration opportunities with countries in Asia, Latin America, and Sub-Saharan Africa in the fields of culture, academia, and civil society.
