The Seimas of Lithuania, in the first reading, adopted a bill that prohibits citizens of the Russian Federation and Belarus from applying for citizenship, as well as buying real estate in the country.
This is stated in a message on the website of the Lithuanian Parliament. "The vast majority of Russian citizens support the military actions of their country, they do not take measures to stop the aggression of the regime, so the responsibility lies with the citizens of these countries," Deputy Foreign Minister Jovita NeliupÅ¡ienÄ said.
She noted that to change their behavior, it is advisable to establish restrictive measures related to the ability of citizens of Russia and Belarus to visit Lithuania and enter the territory of the European Union.
In particular, the draft law proposes to stop accepting visa applications from citizens of Russia and Belarus at Lithuanian visa offices abroad. Also, if the law is passed, the acceptance of applications from Russians and Belarusians for obtaining Lithuanian citizenship will be stopped.
