On August 1, a new fish processing plant was officially opened in Yavoriv district of the Lviv region. The facility, operated by PJSC Lviv Regional Fish Production Plant, was built using private investment and incorporates cutting-edge technologies in full compliance with international food safety and quality standards.
According to the Lviv Regional Administration, the new plant spans 6,800 square meters and includes dedicated zones for processing raw, salted, and smoked fish, as well as for producing preserved goods and semi-finished products. It can handle up to 25 tons of raw fish daily, producing over 12 tons of finished products every day.
The facility is certified under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 22000 standards, making it eligible to export to the European Union. Once fully operational, it will employ 283 people.
“The fish market in Lviv region is currently under-supplied—local production meets only 2% of demand,” said Maksym Kozytskyi, Head of the Lviv Regional Administration. “Although we have over 5,000 hectares of water surface and dozens of enterprises, the potential is still largely untapped. Projects like this plant help unlock that potential.”
Kozytskyi added that the regional government is ready to cooperate with those looking to develop the sector through comprehensive agri-sector support programs, investor facilitation, and assistance in addressing logistics, regulatory, and land use issues.
“Our goal is to see similar modern, eco-friendly, export-oriented enterprises emerge in every district—projects that improve local economies and lives,” he emphasized.
