Janusz Wawrowski is recognized as one of his generation's most outstanding and experienced violinists. His solo career has taken him to the most important concert halls in the world, including: the Wiener Musikverein, Wigmore Hall in London, Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Beethoven Hall in Stuttgart, Seoul Arts Center, Lithuanian National Philharmonic in Vilnius, De Doelen in Rotterdam, Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, Teatro Teresa Carreá¿o in Caracas, National Philharmonic in Warsaw, NFM in Wroclaw, NOSPR in Katowice or M. Karlowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin. He is regularly invited to all concert halls and orchestras in Poland.
For many years he has been associated with the Warner Classics label, on which he has released six solo albums and a number of singles. His recordings brought him excellent reviews and many prestigious awards. His most recent album Phoenix received nominations for ICMA 2021, PdSK, Opus Klassik 2021, and Fryderyk 2021 and was voted Album of the Month by Presto Classic in the UK and Album of the Week by Classic fm in London, Norddeutscher Rundfunk and Polish Radio Dwójka. He also won the 2017 and 2019 Fryderyk Prize, the most prestigious phonographic award in Poland.
Janusz Wawrowski gave numerous world premieres of violin concertos. Tomasz J. OpaÅka, Marcin Markowicz, Norbert Palej, Dariusz Przybylski, and Albena Petrovic dedicated some of their works to him. On his initiative, a unique reconstruction of Różycki's violin concerto, which had disappeared in Warsaw and was destroyed by the 1944 uprising, was created.
For his outstanding artistic and social commitment, he was awarded the Medal for Services to Polish Culture by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. He was nominated for the Coryphaeus of Polish Music award in the Personality of the Year category 2018 and for the Norwid Statuette 2019.
He plays an Antonio Stradivarius violin from 1685.
