In the temporarily occupied territories of southern Ukraine, including Zaporizhzhia, Russians are conducting rounds of local residents' homes. Occupiers are unlawfully settling in apartment buildings among Ukrainians, using the civilian population as a human shield, reported the mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov.
According to him, in the temporarily occupied Tokmak, Russians organize rounds of apartments, during which they settle in multi-story buildings. In addition, residents of the Berdyansk district reported on the occupation of apartments.
"This is typical for both the temporarily occupied Melitopol and settlements closer to the front line. We see it to the maximum extent in the Berdyansk district, where in many villages, for example, Osiyenko, Onok, Petrivka, the enemy occupies apartments, breaking locks, or if, in their opinion, residents occupy a large area, they simply settle in," said Ivan Fedorov.
The mayor of Melitopol added that Russians have turned some villages in the Polohy district of Zaporizhzhia into reservations. In particular, only those who are registered there can enter or leave the area.
Moreover, Ivan Fedorov stated that occupiers have seized humanitarian aid from local residents. According to the official, recently, food packages began to be issued as incentives on the eve of Russian pseudo-elections. From now on, only certain categories of beneficiaries can receive humanitarian aid, and in Berdyansk, Russians are forced to write an application and provide detailed reasons for needing assistance.
