In early September, Roger Waters addressed an open letter to the wife of the President of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, in which he accused Russian aggression of "extreme nationalists" in Ukraine
The founder and former member of the rock band Pink Floyd has canceled his concerts in Poland amid criticism over his claims about Russia's war against Ukraine, local media reported on September 24.
Lukasz Pytko, a representative of the "Tauron" stadium in Krakow, said that the two concerts Roger Waters had planned for April will not take place.
"Roger Waters' manager decided to cancel concerts⦠without giving any reason," Pytko told reporters.
Also, Waters' "This Is Not a Drill" concert tour site no longer lists the concerts in Krakow on April 21 and 22 next year, which were previously scheduled.
Next week, Krakow's city council planned to consider a proposal to declare Waters persona non grata because of "outrage" over the musician's stance on the war in Ukraine.
"To allow Roger Waters, an open supporter of Putin, to play in Krakow⦠would be a shame for our city. Let him play in Moscow," city council member Lukash Vantukh said on his social media last week.
At the beginning of September, Roger Waters addressed an open letter to the wife of the President of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, in which he accused the Russian aggression of "extreme nationalists" in Ukraine, as well as NATO, which allegedly provoked Russia.
- Zelenska responded to the letter publicly, pointing out that it was Russia that started the war and Waters should "ask for peace from the president of another country."
