Warsaw intends to fulfill the promise, even if Germany does not have consent.
Poland intends to transfer Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, regardless of decisions made by other countries. Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau told journalists in Brussels about this.
"We are going to send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. We will keep in touch with the German government on this issue. But regardless of the decision of other countries, we are determined to deliver these tanks as promised," the diplomat stressed.
According to wyborcza.pl, in a conversation with reporters, Rau clarified that Germany is indeed still waiting for a formal request from Poland to transfer Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.
"We will submit this application. The fact is that Poland should not be alone. And there will be a large group of like-minded countries. So that there is a significant armored formation on the battlefield (Leopards)," Rau explained.
