Russian forces deliberately targeted a hotel in Kharkiv; all casualties are civilians. This was reported by the Chief of the Main Department of the National Police in the Kharkiv region, Volodymyr Tymoshko, on Facebook.
"All civilians, including foreign journalists, are among them. They work in Kharkiv region, Donetsk region, telling the truth about the crimes committed by Russian invaders on Ukrainian soil. Russia deliberately struck the hotel - a crater with a depth of 4 meters was found on the spot, and another building nearby was destroyed by a Russian missile," Tymoshko noted.
In a comment to the media, the head of the regional police added that the hotel targeted by the enemy was mostly used by foreign journalists. There were no military personnel there.
"In this hotel, military personnel never lived; almost everyone in Kharkiv knows this. This hotel was used by journalists. It was a well-known fact. At the time of the strike, foreign journalists, including those from Turkey, were in the hotel. Therefore, I believe that this strike was carried out by the Russian Federation specifically against the media," Tymoshko stated.
The mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, confirmed that the hotel affected by Russian forces is a civilian object. According to him, it always accommodated city guests and representatives of foreign delegations.
Around 22:30 on January 10th, Russian forces launched an attack with the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system in the Kyiv district of Kharkiv. Enemy missiles hit the roof of a hotel and the area near the facade.
