The growth of Ukrainians with temporary protection in the EU has slowed down

In December 2024, the number of Ukrainians with temporary protection status in EU countries increased by 25,560, according to Eurostat.

In November, the increase was 36,010. A total of 4.26 million people with temporary protection status, who left Ukraine due to the war, are currently in the EU. Of these, 98.3% are Ukrainians.

The largest absolute growth in the number of beneficiaries was observed in Germany (+8,830), Poland (+3,705), and the Czech Republic (+3,435). The number of people under temporary protection decreased in Denmark (-1,995), Italy (-1,310), and France (-595).

The countries that hosted the highest number of people from Ukraine with temporary protection status are Germany (1.16 million, 27.3% of the total in the EU), Poland (991,630, 23.3%), and the Czech Republic (388,625, 9.1%). Compared to the population of each EU country, the highest ratio of temporary protection recipients per thousand people was observed in the Czech Republic (35.7), Poland (27.1), and Estonia (25.8), while the EU average was 9.5 per thousand people.

 

 

Adult women account for 44.8% of the beneficiaries of temporary protection, children make up 31.9%, and adult men represent 23.2%.
