Russians launched dozens of missiles of various types on Ukraine in the morning of January 2nd. Fires broke out in Kyiv and Kharkiv due to falling debris, resulting in casualties and injuries.
Kyiv
The head of the Darnytsia District State Administration posted photos of the aftermath of the Russian missile strike in the Bortnychi microdistrict.
Explosive ordnance disposal and investigative-operational groups are working at the scene. There are no casualties.
As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, emergency services are operating in six districts of Kyiv where seven fires have occurred: Obolonsky, Pechersky, Podilsky, Solomiansky, Sviatoshynsky, and Desniansky.
More than 130 people have been evacuated from a multi-story building in the Solomiansky district. About 20 people were rescued by emergency workers from blocked premises. In total, over 20 injuries have been recorded in the capital.
Kharkiv
In Kharkiv, as a result of a massive rocket attack on the city, 3 fires broke out:
- A warehouse was on fire.
- A kiosk was ablaze.
- Items in the basement of one of the residential buildings were burning.
- Several cars were on fire.
- Gas leaked from a damaged gas pipe.
According to preliminary information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, one person has died, and more than 40 others have been injured.
According to the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, among those injured in Kharkiv, five children were affected: three boys aged 9 and two girls aged 6 and 13. The injured children sustained explosive injuries, contusions, blast injuries, and acute stress reactions.
Additionally, 24 women, aged 19 to 84, and 15 men, aged 24 to 60, were injured.
Currently, 28 patients are hospitalized, including three children. Medical professionals assess their condition as moderate.
According to the commander of the Air Forces, Mykola Oleshchuk, the enemy essentially repeated the attack from the night of December 29, both in terms of the types of missiles and the number of aerial assault means.
"The results of the combat work that you see daily in our infographics are not achieved easily. They are the result of the persistent work of thousands of defenders of the sky from all branches of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who defend the country without rest and sleep!" - emphasized Oleshchuk.
