The Security Service of Ukraine uses strike maritime drones named 'Mamai' for special operations in the Black Sea.
This is the first time that the development of these surface drones by the SSU has been disclosed. The Security Service noted that the surface drones have effectively changed the philosophy of conducting military-maritime operations.
"Yes, 'Mamai' is currently the fastest object in the Black Sea and can accelerate to 110 kilometers per hour," stated the SSU.
In addition, the SSU also uses strike maritime drones called 'Sea Baby.'
The head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Maliuk, indicated that the Sea Baby drone successfully attacked the Crimean Bridge and other Russian objects, describing the UAV as a versatile platform that is effectively utilized today.
The SSU reported that the maritime drones that damaged the Crimean Bridge in July 2023 were equipped with a combat payload weighing 850 kg.
In October 2022, SSU maritime drones attacked ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol Bay, damaging, among others, the frigate 'Admiral Makarov.'
In 2023, SSU drones inflicted damage on the missile carriers 'Samum' and 'Pavel Derzhavin,' the tanker SIG, the landing ship 'Olenegorsky miner,' and damaged the tug 'Nikolay Mur' and the advanced reconnaissance-hydrographic ship 'Vladimir Kozitsky.'
To strike the landing ship and the tanker, drones were used, each containing a 450 kg combat payload.
According to Vasyl Maliuk, these drones are the result of months of development that began immediately after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
