In the previous stage, Ukrainian ski jumper Vitaliy Kalinichenko managed to qualify for the main round for the first time in 14 years, securing the 37th result.
In Innsbruck, where the third stage of qualification took place, Kalinichenko replicated his performance. Another ski jumper, Yevhen Marusyak, also joined him. Both Ukrainians finished in the top 30 in the qualification and comfortably advanced to the main round of the Four Hills Tournament.
Vitaliy Kalinichenko finished in 24th place, jumping 120.5 meters and scoring a total of 102 points. Yevhen Marusyak secured the 26th position, jumping 119.5 meters and scoring 99 points.
The difference between the Ukrainians lay in the wind correction: Marusyak received one point less for the conditions and almost two points less for the jump distance.
In total, 63 athletes competed in the qualification stage in Innsbruck, with 50 advancing. Importantly, for the first time in history, two Ukrainians successfully qualified and made it to the main round of the competition.
Slovenian Anze Lanisek won the qualification, being the only one to achieve a result beyond 130 meters with a jump of 134 meters.
