Ukraine has serious work to do to restore critical infrastructure.

After Russia's massive attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, some damaged facilities are more expedient to build anew than to restore.

This was stated by the head of the board of "Ukrenergo" Volodymyr Kudrytsky, RBC reports.

"Everything is subject to repair and restoration; the only question is the timing. Some objects can be restored in a few days, some can be restored in weeks, and there are - in months," he said.

Kudritsky stressed that Ukraine has serious work to do to restore critical infrastructure.

"This still needs to be assessed, but it would be more expedient to rebuild some facilities than to restore them. So our network will become more modern since no one will rebuild using old technologies," the head of Ukrenergo added.

Russia's attack on the energy system of Ukraine:

On the morning of October 10, Russia launched attacks on a number of regions of Ukraine. In particular, explosions were heard in Vinnytsia, Lviv, Kirovograd, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Ternopil, Zhytomyr, and Kyiv regions. Hits on critical infrastructure facilities have been recorded.

The capital's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, said that due to Russian shelling, schedules for emergency shutdown of power supply to consumers in Kyiv and the region are applied.

The president's office urged Ukrainians from 17:00 to 22:00 to limit electricity consumption.

On October 11, due to a electricity shortage due to enemy strikes on critical infrastructure in Kyiv and the region, the power began to turn off.

On October 11, the head of the Ministry of Energy, German Galushchenko, said that due to enemy shelling on October 10, 30% of Ukraine's energy infrastructure was damaged.

In addition, on October 11, shelling continued. In particular, the Russian invaders attacked two energy facilities in the Lviv region and the Ladyzhyn thermal power plant in the Vinnytsia region.

On October 15, the Russian invaders launched a missile attack on one of the communities in the Kyiv region. The energy infrastructure facility has undergone significant damage.

On October 17, Russian invaders attacked the energy infrastructure in three regions of Ukraine. 5 drone strikes were recorded in Kyiv, and energy facilities and a residential building were damaged. The aggressor also launched rocket attacks on critical infrastructure in the Dnepropetrovsk and Sumy regions. Hundreds of settlements are de-energized as a result of the attack.

On October 18, 2022, the Russian invaders launched three attacks on an energy supply facility on the left bank of Kyiv, as well as on an energy infrastructure facility in the Dnieper and an energy supply facility in Zhytomyr.
