The United Kingdom will provide an additional £20 million ($26.8 million) to support Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
The British government announced the decision on January 16, on the first anniversary of the 100-year partnership agreement between Ukraine and the UK.
The funds will help provide heating and electricity to millions of Ukrainians.
Financing will be directed toward emergency assistance for repair, restoration, protection, and energy supply across the country, ensuring homes, hospitals, and schools have electricity and heating during harsh winter conditions.
“The people of Ukraine should be in no doubt - we will stand with you today, tomorrow and for the next 100 years, both at home and on the international stage, because what happens in Ukraine matters to us all,” emphasized Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Additionally, the UK is expanding its school twinning program, benefiting 54,000 British and Ukrainian students. Over the next three years, 300 more schools from both countries will join the “100-Year Partnership” school program.
