The Security Service of Ukraine is one of the flagships of the Defense Forces in terms of deep strike — long-range attacks using drone systems.
This was stated by SSU Head Lieutenant General Vasyl Malyuk in an interview with the We Are Ukraine TV channel.
“We primarily think about how to effectively operate in the interests of the front and support the soldier on the frontline. We have already struck over 200 targets deep in Russian territory: these include military-industrial complexes, logistics hubs, and command posts. We also hit the oil extraction and refining sector, which fuels their Ministry of Defense with dirty rubles. The Special Operations Center ‘A’ of the SSU has been very successful in this area and is essentially the flagship of this type of aerial operation not only within the Service but in Ukraine as a whole. This work is ongoing,” Malyuk said.
Among the examples of successful strikes that had a significant impact on the front, the SSU head mentioned an attack on an enemy ammunition depot in the settlement of Toropets, where half of all Russian stockpiles of 120-mm mines were destroyed in a single operation.
“There were 160,000 tons of enemy ammunition there, half of all the 120-mm mine stockpiles. This was a mega success. We operated 120 drones, and another 20 drones were launched simultaneously by other Defense Forces units. In general, as in many other matters, the key is our unity. When the SSU, the drone forces, the Main Intelligence Directorate, Special Operations Forces, the Foreign Intelligence Service, and border guards combine efforts, we carry out unique operations,” Malyuk said.
The head of the special service added that the SSU also actively participates in direct combat actions along the entire front line.
Among other things, according to the head of the service, SSU units use the latest combat tactics, including conducting unique drone assault operations. One of the first examples of applying such tactics was the SSU special operation in the Kursk region.
