Westinghouse has announced its readiness to support the development of nuclear energy in Ukraine and facilitate the construction of new power units.
This was reported by the company's press service.
It is noted that the use of Westinghouse's advanced technologies will help Ukraine strengthen its energy independence and integrate into the global energy market.
"We value our long-standing partnership with Energoatom. We believe that the successful implementation of joint projects in the short term will be an important step towards ensuring the sustainable development of Ukraine's energy sector," the company said in a statement.
It should be noted that Ukraine is currently awaiting the adoption of a parliamentary bill on the completion of Units 3 and 4 of the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant. This will add an additional 2 gigawatts of capacity to the country's energy system and help compensate for the loss of power from the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The project aims to maintain the stability of the energy system and ensure a sufficient supply of electricity for both the population and industry. The completion of the power units has already received support from the IAEA.
