The Czech Republic is providing economic assistance to Ukraine, which is also in the interest of Czech businesses.

This was stated by Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala at a joint briefing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on May 5 in Prague.

“Cooperation with Ukraine is a great opportunity for Czech business and the Czech economy,” the head of government said.

He backed this statement with figures, noting that Czech exports to Ukraine reached 45 billion CZK last year, compared to about 25 billion CZK in 2022—a 75% increase.

Fiala cited examples of aid projects for Ukraine, including the delivery of generators worth 80 million CZK and the construction of a wind power plant in western Ukraine with a Czech investment of 61 million CZK.

Additional projects are being prepared, particularly in the transport sector, the Prime Minister added. According to him, there is also potential to strengthen cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.

“Czech companies are ready to play an active role in the reconstruction, especially of key infrastructure, and cooperation may also develop in other sectors,” Fiala assured.

As reported, President Zelenskyy is on a two-day visit to the Czech Republic. The day before, he met with his Czech counterpart Petr Pavel. On Monday morning, he held meetings with the leadership of the lower house of parliament and with MPs, including members of the opposition.
