The Polish Industrial Development Agency (ARP) plans to create a rail link between Poland and Ukraine, said the new ARP president, Bartłomiej Babushka. This investment project will open up Poland's access to Middle Eastern markets, crossing the Black Sea from the Ukrainian ports in the Odessa region.
According to Babushka, the Agency is working alongside Team Poland on Ukraine's reconstruction. Several investment projects are currently being developed in working groups.
The ARP president explained that if Ukraine is considering EU membership, it cannot be achieved with a Soviet-era "broad gauge" railway network. For example, in Azerbaijan, two tracks are being laid side by side: one broad gauge and one narrow gauge.
One of the most urgent priorities is the creation of a logistics link between Silesia, through Lesser Poland, and Ukraine, specifically to Odessa.
Babushka noted that the project represents a rather profitable investment, as the construction of the line will require the purchase of land along the tracks, which extend over 800 km from Lviv to Odessa.
He added that negotiations are already underway with the Ukrainian side for a narrow-gauge railway to Odessa. A key element of ARP's plans in this regard is the expansion of the Slavkov rail terminal, which should be completed within two years.
We helped Ukraine a lot after Putin's brutal attack and have every right to negotiate Poland's participation in the reconstruction of Ukraine on a partnership basis.
Poland should be well prepared to launch such projects after the end of the war for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
