Russia plans to open an “international” crossing point in the occupied port of Berdyansk, disguised as a legal seaport.
This was reported by Petro Andryushchenko, head of the Center for Occupation Studies, on Telegram.
According to him, on October 15, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order to establish a permanent multilateral cargo crossing point at the Berdyansk seaport, located in the occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region.
The technical development of the port is being carried out by the Russian state company Rosgranstroy, with all work scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
Under Russian plans, the crossing point will handle around 4,800 crew members and over 200 cargo ships per year, with a total cargo turnover of up to 1.5 million tons.
Thus, Russia is attempting to integrate the occupied Berdyansk into its own transport system and create an official channel for exporting stolen Ukrainian grain, metal, and construction materials under the guise of legal cargo shipments.
“Effectively, this is an attempt to legalize a stolen port under the guise of the ‘Russian state border,’” Andryushchenko emphasized.
It alsowas reported that the Russian forces also plan to open a maritime crossing point through the “Russian state border” at the Mariupol port.
