Russian attacks across Ukraine leave 5 killed and 16 injured and widespread damage

Between June 2 and June 3, several regions in Ukraine suffered a wave of Russian drone strikes, artillery shelling, and air raids, resulting in casualties and widespread damage to civilian infrastructure.

In Balakliia, Kharkiv region, a massive Russian drone attack on June 3 led to the death of one person and injuries to another. Vitalii Karabanov, head of the Balakliia City Military Administration, reported that multiple drone strikes targeted the city. Some of these strikes hit a civilian enterprise and nearby open terrain, where dry vegetation caught fire. Tragically, one employee of the enterprise was killed, and another was injured.

In the Kherson region, the situation between 6:00 a.m. on June 2 and 6:00 a.m. on June 3 was dire, with one person killed and 13 others injured due to sustained Russian attacks. Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, detailed that numerous towns and villages—including Kherson city, Antonivka, Sadove, and many others—came under enemy drone strikes, artillery shelling, and air raids. The assaults damaged twelve private homes, storage facilities, outbuildings, garages, and private vehicles. Among the injured was a child.

In the Sumy region, Russian forces launched a drone strike on the Shostka community during the night of June 3. Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, confirmed that residential buildings and infrastructure suffered damage, including about 10 private houses and an apartment building. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported.

The Dnipropetrovsk region also experienced significant attacks. Serhii Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, reported that from evening until morning, Russian forces targeted the city of Nikopol and the Marhanets community using FPV drones, heavy artillery, and explosives dropped from UAVs. The attacks caused damage to infrastructure, apartment buildings, and a shopping center, though no casualties were reported.

Meanwhile, in the Donetsk region, the Russian army killed three civilians and injured two others on June 2. Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, stated that two people were killed in Yablunivka and one in Kramatorsk. He also noted that the overall number of victims from Russian aggression in Donetsk now totals 3,237 killed and 7,237 injured, excluding those from Mariupol and Volnovakha.

 

 

Back in Kharkiv, Russian drone strikes targeted the postal terminal area in the city’s suburbs, causing a large fire that destroyed two warehouse buildings and containers covering 3,000 square meters. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported no casualties or injuries in the attack.

Lastly, in Sloviansk, Donetsk region, the city was attacked overnight on June 3 by five Russian Geran-2 drones. Vadym Liakh, head of the Sloviansk City Military Administration, said that apartment buildings near the Central Research Institute of Laboratory Diagnostics suffered window damage, and school No. 14 was heavily hit. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
