At the World Economic Forum in Davos, the delegation of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine is holding a series of meetings with international partners and businesses. The main focus is on urgent support for Ukraine’s energy sector and attracting investment for reconstruction.

First Deputy Minister Aliona Shkrum and Deputy Minister Artem Rybchenko emphasized during negotiations the need to accelerate the delivery of critically important energy equipment that Ukraine requires immediately.

“While we are negotiating in Davos, Ukraine’s energy system is under significant strain, and communities across the country feel the daily impact of Russian attacks. Our task is to communicate the real needs and secure rapid international support, including the supply of critical equipment,” said Aliona Shkrum, First Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.

A key part of the meetings included discussions with Swiss energy companies. The Ukrainian delegation provided business representatives with a list of urgent energy equipment needs coordinated with the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

The list was also shared with partners during a session of donor platform business advisors, which included leaders of leading global companies supporting Ukraine’s recovery.

On the sidelines, the Ministry’s delegation discussed opportunities for financing through SECO — the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, one of Ukraine’s largest partners in reconstruction and energy sector development.

SECO announced a second project competition in cooperation with the Swiss private sector, with co-financing of up to 150 million Swiss francs for the reconstruction of social infrastructure. The Ukrainian side proposed directing part of the funding to urgent energy needs.

Additionally, the Ukrainian delegation held meetings with the world’s largest energy companies and industry associations, including European, Swedish, and Swiss business associations, to explore solutions and resources for the rapid delivery of energy equipment and support for Ukrainian communities.

They also presented specific investment projects in the areas of critical infrastructure restoration, port infrastructure, water supply, and logistics.

The delegation’s work in Davos continues, with a series of new agreements on supporting the reconstruction of the energy sector expected in the near future.
