Russian Missile Strike on Zaporizhzhia residential building: 1 dead, 24 injured

Early on January 23, the Russian army launched a missile strike on the city of Zaporizhzhia, according to Ivan Fedorov, head of the regional administration.

"The enemy strikes the city again. At least four explosions were heard in Zaporizhzhia… Preliminary reports indicate people trapped under the rubble," Fedorov wrote on his Telegram channel.

Later, he clarified that the Russian attack killed a 47-year-old local resident and injured 24 others, including a two-month-old baby. Among the injured were four employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, who are reportedly in critical condition. Fedorov also shared a photo of a partially destroyed building hit by the missile.

 

 

In total, over the past day, the Russian army carried out 361 strikes on 10 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region, Fedorov noted. In addition to Zaporizhzhia, attacks targeted Temyrivka, Novodanilivka, and Mala Tokmachka. The region also saw 188 drones launched. The day before, on January 22, a Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia caused a fire in one of the city's districts. Local authorities did not specify the affected target. Earlier, on the morning of January 18, the Russian army shelled the city, killing one person and injuring 10. The shelling damaged infrastructure, residential buildings, and shops.

 

 

On January 8, Russian forces dropped guided aerial bombs on Zaporizhzhia, striking residential areas in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Multi-story buildings were destroyed, leaving 13 people dead and 18 injured, including a 13-year-old girl.

On December 10, 2024, Russia struck central Zaporizhzhia with missiles. One of the missiles hit a private clinic, killing 10 people and injuring 16, including two doctors. The clinic was completely destroyed. A few days earlier, on December 6, Russian forces dropped FAB-250 guided aerial bombs on the city, one of which hit a residential area. The attack killed 10 people, including two teenage girls, and injured 26 others.
