Russia and Serbia have extended their gas supply contract until September 30.

This was announced by Dušan Bajatović, Director of Srbijagas.

The current agreement for the supply of Russian gas to Serbia was set to expire this week, but an annex to the deal was signed on Friday.

"On Friday, we signed an annex to the existing contract, extending the same terms until September 30. In this way, we secured six million cubic meters of gas at a price of €290 per 1,000 cubic meters," said Bajatović.

“In the Gazprom storage facility, there will be 385 million cubic meters of gas, and in the Srbijagas storage facility in Banatski Dvor, also 385 million cubic meters, which means we are well prepared for the winter,” Bajatović emphasized.

He said the problem is not the quantity of gas, but the fact that all countries are now interested in the TurkStream pipeline as the only functioning route to Europe, noting that Gazprom’s contract with Turkey expires on December 31 and that everyone is now “rushing” to secure that route.

He stressed that Serbia’s goal is to reach an agreement with Russia on a stable and guaranteed daily supply of eight million cubic meters, at a price that would be a combination of the oil formula and TTF (Title Transfer Facility). Additionally, Serbia aims to secure four million cubic meters as a supplement during the coldest days.

“The Russians can guarantee up to two or 2.5 million cubic meters under current conditions. And the remaining 1.5 million that we lack could possibly come from Banatski Dvor, but we’ll see how to solve the logistics issues. Those four million will be priced on what’s called a ‘best effort’ basis — that is, the best possible price,” said Bajatović.
